GABF 2008

UpaDowna Teamwork Well Juice Box and I survived another GABF and are proud to report that we had a blast!! This year we volunteered and unfortunately were placed in the section with our local breweries. I guess it could have been worse but we were hoping to get into a section that would allow us to sample (heavily) new beers!!Triumph We were able to take extended breaks and got around to quite a few breweries. Unfortunately I was not all that impressed with very many. But I am sure that had to do with my taste buds being drunk, eventually they all tasted the same. There are a few things I would like to bring up. Yeti's FaveFirst: while we do not like to bash people on this site we have no choice but to mention this woman, she was a volunteer at the PBR booth and she was the rudest naziesque pile of donkey crap in the entire place. I am a huge fan of PBR and thankfully she had a volunteer shirt on or I would seriously have to reconsider my allegiance to PBR. I won't go into details and will leave it at a picture so you all can keep a close eye out for her gestapo ways. Second: I was stoked to run into Midnight Sun Brewing Company out of Anchorage AK, last time MtnMama and I were up there we really enjoyed their beer and it was good to taste a few of their quality brews! Iron Hill T-ShirtThird: while running around sampling, JuiceBox and I ran in to a few of the employees of Iron Hill Brewing Company's flagship store out of Newark. Their shirts said "Our beer snobs can beat up your wine snobs" and I guess that is all we needed to realized this place would surely kick ass. Anyways amongst the chaos of countless beers, Iron Hill was not one that we were planning on hitting up, but after running into faithful employees Brett and Sean, we could not pass up Iron Hill. As it turns out they had some tasty brews and we were not the only ones that noticed. They won six medals. Often the thing that can make or break a brewery is the quality of their employees and Iron Hill has it down to a science, Congratulations. Alpine YetiFourth: even at a brew fest never ever pass up the mead!! Juice Box and I covered for Redstone Meadery out of Boulder and trust me this stuff really is the nectar of the gods. All in all we had a great time, and as always we wish we could have tried more beers maybe next year. Complete medal list of the 2008 Great American Beer Fest
