Outstanding Weekend!!

This weekend was a great weekend to get out and about in Colorado Springs, CO. We had quite a group of folks get together at all of the events. Here is a breakdown of the weekend.dsc_0995

Saturday started around 10 A.M. with the 1st annual Peak Region Cyclist Bike Show. The PRC is a local rag that covers all aspects of cycling for the front range area with a focus right here in C/S (Colorado Springs). David Pico did an outstanding job of getting a gaggle of bike related booths together as well as industry experts and folks from World Bicycle Relief, local artists and even a guy that collects and rents custom cruisers.

After a great time at this show, Mtn Mama and I headed over to the Manitou Springs Carnivalemg4. Before actually getting into the Carnivale we stopped and grilled a few burgers and had a few primer PBR's. Unfortunately I think a hex was set upon me for grilling on some "witches" sidewalk. Yes I think she really was a witch I am not being rude, I am being serious, if you don't believe me come to Manitou and all will be understood! The Carnivale is a yearlymardi Mardi Gras celebration that rivals New Orleans (at least in enthusiasm), and is really good for letting it all hang loose. This year the parade was short but INTENSE!!!

The Hash House Harriers we out in the parade and yes they were living up to their reputation of drunken debauchery.

mgOnce the parade had ended we headed into the local watering hole, Kinfolks (this is also the pub we hit up every Thursday after the UpaDowna Incline Happy Hour. Packed as expected, we somehow managed to squeeze onto a few stools and belly up to the bar. Once set, I wasn't moving until I had to, which meant I had to drink my fill and well, hold it. Kinfolks had arranged local phenom Grant Sabin to jam on the stage which made this point of the day impossible to be any better.sabin

Around 3pm I think we all headed over to 515 where a few local jam bands were playing amazing sets. Creating A Newsense, The Genuwines, The Haunted Wind Chimes and The Jack Trades were rotating through the night keeping it fresh.

Shortly before 5pm we all headed over to Trinity Brewing Company for the WMBA of COS (Women's Mountain Bike Association of Colorado Springs) fundraiser. The fundraiser was kick ass with tons of prizes and give-aways to which Mtn Mama caught a jersey, a pair of socks and a sweet pair of riding gloves!! Happy Birthday Love!

Here at Trinity we continued the booze fest and had a great time running into the guys from Over the Edge Sports of Fruita and their buddy from Magura and between the pints and laughter Magura taught me a bit about their products. I hope to do a review soon, so keep an eye out!

We also ran into Mindy and Rush Carter, owners of CS West bikes here in the Springs, as well as UltraRob and many many enthusiastic shredders from all over.

I want to give a special shout out to Betty Turnage, Hillary Hienton, Jessica Conner, and Mary Hoyle as well as the rest of the newly formed all women mountain bike team Sunna Racing!! WHOO HOOO!!!! These shredders really know how to have a fundraiser.

After a few hours of partying at Trinity we headed back to 515 to catch the last set by Newsense, then finally called it a night. What an outstanding day!!!rros-gps-topo

To cap the weekend off UltraRob gave me a call on Sunday and we managed to ride RROS (Red Rock Open Space) for a few hours on the single speed. UltraRob used his GPS to track the route. What a weekend, what a life!!!
