Cheyenne Cañon Ale Release Party
When was the last time you purchased a beer and 100% of the profit went to a local cañon? Colorado Springs residents will have that chance once again thanks to Bristol Brewing Company and their summer release of Cheyenne Cañon Ale!
Six years ago, an idea was born in which all profits from the sale of a seasonal "community ale" would benefit a local Cañon. Alas, the Piñon Nut Brown Ale was born! A 2009 GABF Silver Medal winner, this 6.5% ABV smooth brown will only be available for a limited time, starting with the upcoming release party.
The other half of this amazing equation? North Cheyenne Cañon Park. It's nestled right in the mountains outside of town, only a 15 minute bike ride from downtown Colorado Springs. Free to all visitors, it offers a children's discovery center, 20 miles of hiking/biking trails, three creeks, waterfalls, technical rock climbing, picnic areas and grand vistas. It ranks as the 4th most popular attraction in the Pikes Peak Region and tallies about 1/2 a million visitors a year. This year, the park's goal is to raise enough money to help restore the deteriorating Helen Hunt Falls Visitors Center.
The goal is by September of 2011, TFOCC (The Friends of Cheyenne Cañon) want to raise the rest of the funds (a little over $10,000 to reach their $70,000 goal) to tear down the existing structure and put up a 1900s looking cabin frame. One of the main attractions of the new building will be a large ADA accessible porch on the southwest side of the cabin. This will allow easy viewing for folks relaxing on the porch while hikers continue to the top of the falls. Check out the future of the center:
