Snow Day Winter Ale
What better way to bring in the ski season than with a Snow Day winter ale from New Belgium Brewing Company. This crisp moderately hopped ale is the newest seasonal from the Ft. Collins based brewery which has long been rotating through it's offerings. This particular brew is using the relatively new Midnight Wheat for the malt which is a has smooth characteristics I liken to chocolate or caramel that you would find in a nice stout. While most winter ales lend themselves to spices and such that ultimately can only be handled during the season, I think the pronounced hop adds balance and the overall mellow spice of this beer could easily be renamed and produced year round, perhaps even as an IPA. So for those of you begging for a bit of snow as a reprieve from the work week maybe trade in your silly little snow dance and drink a few of these, always toasting the snow gods of course!
