Our local climbing gym, CityROCK is pilot testing a program where they are opening from 6-8 am every Tuesday in January! So MtnMama and I made our way down there to get a nice session in before we started our day. I really hope this takes because for early birds this exactly the kind of gym I would make use of!

Ran a few good miles yesterday and pulled a total rookie move, yep I forgot my head lamp and man does it get dark in the forest!!!
Add to the darkness the snow and ice and well things can get pretty hairy pretty darn quick. Fortunately my running partner was a bit smarter and brought a light which lasted until just a few steps from his house. I will not make that mistake again. Enjoy your runs but be safe.

This would definitely make me a bit nervous with the exposure on the riders right.

Nice little jog in Cheyenne Mountain State Park yesterday! Marking day 2 of 2012 I was glad to get out there amongst the Gamble Oaks and the beautiful mule deer. The track was muddy in places from the recent snows we have gotten and it was a sure bet that the snow that remained in the shadows was fully compacted and iced over making running on it a real treat!

WOW! Thanks to The Gear Junkie for bringing this one to my attention, originally found on Snowboarder Magazine with this caption:
"Rider: Brandon Cocard. Location: Sierra at Tahoe backcountry. I have never seen anyone attempt to ride a frozen waterfall until Brandon Cocard dropped in to this one. It scared the shit out of me. It was not a nice sound."

Now deep into 2012 you have already laid the groundwork for how this year will turn out. Be sure to make time to get outside and enjoy the lands and waters that make this world such an exceptional place. Take each day as a rebirth, a chance to restart with bigger and better days, sure you'll have some ups and downs but remember each day is a great new opportunity to improve in so many ways!
