When it comes to opinions on cell phones in the outdoors I see people going in all directions. Yes, when I leave town I like to get away, and having a cell phone on me while constantly checking it really defeats the purpose. Well, don't check it!

Its amazing who you meet in the wilderness. If you have an open mind and really take the time to get to know people in the outdoors, what you'll find is a stronger bond than any networking or business handshake could ever provide.

You can obviously carry colder and perishable foods for longer durations in the winter if it is cold enough. For the short time I spent in Sequoia National Park last Spring it sure made quite the impression. Like the other gems in California that John Muir spent his life marveling and boasting about, Sequoia's beauty was more than I could ever take in, or I could ever put into words to do the area justice.
