Recently Discovered Amazonian Tribe Vanishes

At the beginning of this year I remember hearing about a newly discovered Amazonian tribe whose members were filmed by a low flying airplane over their village. This great discovery began a wode ranging debate about whether the tribe should be contacted or left alone. Unfortunately it is now beliueved that they were infact "contacted"…by drug smugglers.

The Indiana Jones in us all has no doubt at one time or another found something intriguing about lost tribes and ancient peoples long hidden in the depths of overgrown forests. These tribes cherish the simplicity of their lives and especially their seclusion. I cannot begin to imagine what these "uninitiated" people would think of our concrete cancer spreading cities and our mass transit and fashion "needs". Most of the time I find my self trying to get back to nature in the sense that these tribes have never lost. I worry that the Amazonian tribes may very well be our last connection to what it is like being truly human.

This spring a previously un contacted tribe was discovered by a low flying plane deep in the Amazon. This discovery fired up advocates on all sides with ferocious debates as to if they should be contacted or left alone. Ultimately it was decided to let them live in peace, unfortunately the Peruvian cocaine smugglers did not get the message, now it is feared that the smugglers either scared the villagers away or worse yet slaughtered them.

I cannot for the life of me understand the thought process that went through the smuggler's minds when they must have come upon this tribe. And I truly hope that this tribe has fled and made it to relative safety…for now.
