  • 2nd Monday Madness- Bouldering Night at City Rock   2 weeks 2 days ago

Hey I've actually been to one of these before but I ran into Steve (I think) and he invited me out again. So just thought I'd give you the heads up first because I don't want to take a possible newcomers spot and take away their opportunity to experience some indoor climbing. Anyway, love what you guys are doing thanks!

Yoga is the the best way to reduce the weight and the benefits it is done in small space does not need big space to do.

Great tool! I love it. Simple, practical and cheap.
I can also think of a dozen ways to use it right
off the top of my head. I certainly can not afford the
Ultra expensive mega exercise machines. This will
    do just fine.

I got one of these jackets for Christmas off my wife, and it's technically brilliant and warm to wear. So lightweight and roomy too. It possibly could be used as a signal when inside out in an emergency situation as it's so reflective and shiny :-)

  • Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2012 Day 1   20 weeks 6 days ago

Laura, its a mix between a hiking shoe and a climbing shoe. Comfy enough to wear longer distances...sticky enough rubber to climb steeper grades to your fave climbing spot :)

  • Helle Viking Knife   20 weeks 6 days ago

Anna, for me putting it on inside the house it was a few seconds. In the daylight, even faster. I was blown away by this jacket!

CS was definitely fun last year!!! I was hoping it was going to be the same but I am sure Vail will be a blast as well. I would like to see somewhere besides Denver host but I don't see that happening anytime soon. Maybe if we comment enough on their Facebook they will let Colorado Springs host one year.

  • The Evolv Defy   21 weeks 4 days ago

Its a decent starting shoe. Although, I highly doubt that they will be good for 5.12 to 5.13 routes. Also, the author forgot to mention how bad they will stink after about a month or so of climbing. It seems to be the worse smelling shoe out there and will definently need cleaning every once and a while if you want to have friends to climb with.

Message to people buying shoes: All reviews like this talk way too highly of the shoes being sold. They exaggerate the good qualities of this shoe and leave out the bad.

That being said, this is a decent, comfortable shoe, but beware of the smell it will soon have. And don't buy this for 5.12 to 5.13 level route climbing.

  • Is CrossFit Legit As An Exercise Plan?   22 weeks 5 hours ago

    Hi Steve,

It sounds like you have had a pretty positive experience from your time with this workout? I am looking for a more 'intense' workout as of late, started taking supplements to improve my mass and energy ( such as jack3d ), would you recommend this workout for these goals?

    Thanks!

  • 2013 USA Pro Cycling Challenge Route Announced   22 weeks 11 hours ago

I agree, that route sucks. Aside from the odd, rather compact choice of host cities, there doesn't appear to be any real queen stage this year. ...

  • Sierra Designs Gnar Jacket   23 weeks 3 days ago

I own this jacket, but I haven't had too many opportunities to wear it yet. I'm going out in today in fact now that a cold front just blew in. It's the first down piece of clothing I've ever owned. I wish it were a little more poofy though because I can't imagine just a little bit of down, 800 though it is, keeping me warm. I hope I am wrong though. The women's Marmot Ama Dablan 800 fill down is much poofier, but of course, heavier.

Two things about the Gnar that I wish were better were 1. a hood (and NOW they have a hoody version, though it's not adjustable...yet), and 2. the jacket keeps shedding down. After a few years, there won't be any down left in it. All the feathers will have poked through and blown away. They need to make the jacket with a down-proof fabric, similar to what they use in Germany for down comforters.

  • Helle Viking Knife   23 weeks 3 days ago

Just to let you guys know, the birch on Helle knives are all soaked in Linseed Oil for one year before the knives are handcrafted. This helps prevent the expansion and contraction of the wood, and thus, this helps prevent cracking of the handles.

Also, Helle knives all have a lifetime warranty, so if the handle cracks, Helle will replace it for you (but in actuality this never happens... but it is a good piece of mind). Helle knives are made to be used, and they are perfect to pass on through the generations. Thanks for the review Steve!

(I work for the importer of Helle here in the US, and my company supplied Steve with this knife. Hence why I know a little bit about these beauties!)

  • Helle Viking Knife   23 weeks 4 days ago

I totally agree with you on the bolster point...as do many many others that have used knives with out them. Helle was replicating a knife from an era and style where they were omitted which as I understand it is the reason they did the same.

  • Helle Viking Knife   23 weeks 4 days ago

Thanks for the review. I agree with your about worrying weather the handle will hold up. The handle on this knife does not have any bolsters. Without the metal bolster on the front of the handle the wood is very prone to splitting. Using Birch for the handle is great as Birch is a high quality wood and it should work for most people and uses. Without a bolster up front eventually you risk splitting the handle. Thanks again for the review guys.. Peace ~ TondoCM
