Tossing a disc in Poncha Springs will definitely get you stoked especially if you follow up a round with some cold beers and Moonlight pizza which by the way will soon start brewing beer!!

This weekend my buddies and I had a couple hours to burn before heading over to the Salida Beer Festival (which was awesome) so we played a quick 18. The course is pretty short, but it is heavily wooded and hilly. I played almost the entire course with my putter/mid-range, and it was a blast. The hills offer some sweet downhill drives which are tons of fun, but they can make it really easy to overthrow. If you do overthrow you better pay real close attention to where you throw because there are some areas that will eat your disc. The area that runs along the river is brutal because it's a cliff that drops down into a abysmal river bed that would be close to impossible to find a disc.

If you play Poncha, pay attention to the maps, and try to play behind someone who knows the holes. Little orange flags mark the direction of the pin.  If you throw the worst round of your life and you loose all you're discs to the river or the trees, it's alright. They sell discs at the gas station in Poncha Springs so you can feel good about supporting the local economy!

Directions: From Hwy 50; south on Hwy 285 to a left on Hot Springs Rd. just over bridge. Continue straight (uphill) to the course – 0.25 mile on right (driveway unmarked).

If you are in the area check it out. It's well worth it.
