What: Our 3rd Sunday Adventure this month will be on the Mt. Cutler trail in North Cheyenne Canyon Park. This hike is fairly easy with beautiful views. Featuring a steady climb from 6,785' up 415 ft in about 1.1 miles to 7,200' elevation, this 2.2 mile round trip hike contains lots of fun places to explore as well as views of Seven Falls and almost 360 degrees of views from the summit. Mt. Cutler is a fun and easy hike but also has some steep, rocky cliff faces so take caution about going to far away from the trail.
Where: To get to North Cheyenne Canyon Park, take 21st (turns into Cresta) from HWY 24 or Cheyenne Mtn. Blvd. from the Tejon exit off HWY25. When you come to a fork in the road, take the right fork, which is North Cheyenne Canyon Road. The left fork goes to Seven Falls and the Starsmore Discovery Center is between the two. Follow the road for 1.5 miles where you will see the trailhead and limited off-road parking. If the lot is full, you may have to back track to the Mid-Columbine trailhead, then carefully walk back up the road. The Mt. Cutler parking lot can fill up quickly on weekends.
Tips: It is highly suggested to carpool or meet at Starsmore Discovery Center to carpool up. Dogs are allowed but must remain on leashes.
