Per the label, "The 2013 Celebration Fresh Hop Ale is a special ale for the holidays. Featuring the first hops of the growing season, this pioneering IPA is full of complex flavors and aromas from the generous use of of whole-cone American hops." -Sierra Nevada.
I've always had a fondness for Sierra Nevada and their super hoppy ales. Earlier in the week when Stevie T. set one of these aside for me from his private stash, I knew right away that I'd be using this Celebration for this week's BOTW.
The Celebration poured to a beautiful amber-red body with a fluffy lightly tanned head. A sweeter side fof the drink meets you at the front of this one, but it is quickly taken over by tons of spices and flavors that smother your palate. You most likely notice citrus flavors with a nice malty balance that fade away leaving you with that distinct Sierra Nevada hop-finish. The feel is crisp and clingy, a little sticky. With an ABV of 6.8 and a hoppy bite at the end, this brew might not be the most sessionable drink for most. If you like a nice hoppy-ending, then I'd suggest taking home a 12 pack, especially if you plan on sharing.
In a seasonal time of warmer bodied and thicker beers, the Sierra Nevada Celebration was a nice change of pace to what seems to becoming the norm.
