Join UpaDowna on a National Parks Free Entrance Day in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr Day!
We’ll attend some guided hikes from 10-noon, explore the visitors center, and even stop at Iron Tree Restaurant, Bakery & Brewery afterward for those interested.

We were unable to get transportation this time BUT…we will be meeting to CARPOOL as well as meeting participants up there. You can find us at the visitors center off of Teller County 1.

About Florissant Fossil Beds:
Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument was set aside to protect and preserve the amazing diversity of late Eocene fossils found here. Since the late 1800’s, these fossil beds has served as a destination for visitors and scientists from all over the world. Today the National Monument provides the public with the opportunity to experience a unique assemblage of fossils, huge petrified tree stumps, and 6,000acres of undisturbed natural beauty. It is up to each and every visitor to ensure that current and future generations can enjoy this amazing resource.
DIRECTIONS: Visitors traveling north/south on I-25: Exit at US 24 West, travel 35 miles to town of Florissant, then follow signs two miles south to the visitor center on Teller County 1. Visitors traveling east/west on US 24: Exit to the town of Florissant, then follow signs two miles south on Teller County 1 to the visitor center. Visitors traveling from the town of Cripple Creek: Follow Teller County Road 1 north for 16 miles. TRANSPORTATION: To Park: access by US Highway 24 and Teller County Road 1.
