Join UpaDowna to make a difference by helping us take care of our adopted parks & trails!

LOCATION:

AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL PARK, 126 Cimino Dr. 80903 (meet in the main entrance near the tall pillars)

DETAILS:
-Trash bags, gloves, water, and snacks will be provided. Have a cleanup or UpaDowna shirt? Please wear it! Don’t have one? We’ll do our best to get you one!
-The adoption of this parks and trails is in partnership with the City of Colorado Springs. Waivers will need to be signed at every clean up and a brief safety meeting will take place before the cleanup.
-Please arrive early, after the safety talk and waivers, we hit the trail ASAP!
-Kids are welcome but keep in mind, there can be dangerous objects along the trail. Please keep a close eye on little ones. We currently do not have gloves for kids under 10.
-We always suggest to wear lightweight layers, with long pants/ long sleeved shirt and sturdy closed-toed shoes. Bring water and a small backpack for snacks, rain gear, or anything needed to keep kiddos happy, just in case!

What: “Intro to Climbing”, a donation-based class

Why: To encourage all ages and abilities to try the fun and fulfilling sport of climbing!

Goals:

  1. To help individuals, couples, or families experience a new adventure sport in a safe and fun environment.
  2. To help individuals overcome a fear of heights by providing helpful and friendly encouragement.
  3. To overcome as many barriers as possible (cost, equipment, location, knowledge) in order for all ages and abilities to try climbing.

Details: You are invited to join UpaDowna for a first hand tour of CityROCK Climbing Center and intro to climbing class. This class is designed for folks that have never been into CityROCK, are new to climbing, or just getting back into it. You’ll get a tour of the facility and learn the basics of climbing taught by seasoned climbers from UpaDowna and CityROCK. We are stoked to offer you this amazing, donation-based, Intro to Climbing package, complete with climbing gear rental, expert instruction from Cityrock and UpaDowna staff, and food and beverages afterward, a $150 value!

Eric is an avid adventurer summiting active volcanoes in New Zealand, swimming with sea turtles in Guam, and kayaking among glaciers in Alaska and has seen adventure’s impact on people firsthand, over and over again. A member of the National Speaker Association, and former Swiftwater Rescue Instructor for the U.S. Air Force, he is also the Founder of “Adventure Experience” and travels the U.S. speaking on the benefits of risk, challenge, and getting outside your “comfort zone”
 
About Adventure on Tap: UpaDowna’s Speaker Series is a featured activity in our nonprofit’s “Community Campfire” program. This activity features a new discussion each month. Through our speaker series, you’ll have the opportunity to be inspired by many different adventures. Keeping on theme with our mission, we want to inspire individuals to pursue outdoor endeavors and this is one of the ways we hope to bring new and exciting opportunities to you! Want to be a speaker? Find us: 525 N. Cascade Ave on the SE corner of Cascade and Willamette. Enter the west door on the Cascade side. Parking is FREE and can be found on Cascade, Willamette and in our parking lot out back.

Join UpaDowna for our 3rd Saturday adventures.  Once a month we will lead a guided hike to explore a new trail, hike, or adventure topic.  All ages, abilities, and experience levels are welcome!

Cottonwood Disc Golf Course
This very popular course on the north side of Colorado Springs has a good mix of wooded and open fairways with changes in elevation. The course has different looks, as there are several alternate pin placements. A practice basket is provided. It’s a fun and challenging course with some narrow fairways.

We will be discussing disc golf basics, etiquette, and play a few holes! Come out and learn about this great sport!
