Kulae Yoga/Pilates Mats

I'll admit it, I'm a yoga snob. Well, I guess you could just say I'm picky about my yoga, all of it. What I wear, where I go, even down to my mat. I'm starting to branch out a little, experiment with different styles, teachers and, yes, even mats. Kulae is an amazing company with an equally cool philosophy: "Kulae is a meaning of communities coming together and working together to help maintain healthy people on a healthy planet." Kulae's mats are one of those yoga mats you just want to cuddle up with and sleep on. As a taller person at 5'10", I really like the way Kulae adds an additional 4 inches to their mats. This is a much needed comfort during my yoga practice. It's nice when my heels (or head) can rest on the mat. Another great feature about these yoga and pilates mats is the closed cell technology of the mat itself. This provides zero penetration of germs, bacteria and odor into the mat. The 5mm thick tpECOmat Plus is a well constructed, 100% biodegradable/100% recyclable mat! tpECOmat Plus-

• Manufactured using Closed Cell Technology = NO Bacteria seeping into the mat and NO odors of any kind • 100% Biodegradable and 100% Recyclable • Size: 72" long x 24" wide x 5mm thick yoga mat • Weight: 2.5 lbs MSRP- $49.00

The tpECOmat Ultra is the heavyweight, weighing in at 4lbs, lugging this baby around is worth it! The added cushion of the 8mm thick mat will bring comfort to any pilates class. tpECOmat Ultra-

• Ultra thick pilates mat • Manufactured using Closed Cell Technology = NO Bacteria and NO odors of any kind • Double-sided mat with dual color and pattern styling to stay flexible with your mood! • 100% Biodegradable and 100% Recyclable • Size: 72" long x 24" wide x 8mm thick • Weight: 4 lbs MSRP- $69.00

Both mats provided adequate cushion and support however, were a bit slippery for my yoga taste. Yes, I could probably use a towel for added stability and dryness, but I don't use one currently. I know, get over it yoga snob and try something new! Speaking of something new, I've tried a new local yoga studio, PlaYoga. Talk about local, I can just walk across the street and catch a class whenever I see cars parked out front! I was lucky enough to catch a class on a Saturday evening, and no one else showed up so I lucked out on a private lesson! Randy @ PlaYoga was nice enough to introduce me to their style and quickly I was a fan of their philosophy. I hope to go back soon! Adventure On! ~MtnMama
