Nikwax
After a much needed night of rain here in Colorado, I woke this morning with two things on my mind.
- Yes! My yard is getting a much needed soaking!
- It's Nikwax time!
I'm not going to sugar coat this at all, when it comes to treating, conditioning, and weatherproofing your gear, you need look no further than Nikwax! It's the bee's knees!!! With their large variety of products readily available just about anywhere and everywhere outdoor gear is sold, there is absolutely no excuse for you to not treat your gear. No matter the activity, if you do it in or during implementing weather, you need Nikwax! For backpackers, campers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts Nikwax is a must when it comes to the proper (that's for you Jim) treatment and maintenance of your gear. It's probably one of the most overlooked parts of trip preparation, as well as the cleaning and stowing of your gear. It's one of those things that usually by the time you know you need it, it's far too late. It has been the unsung hero on many backpacking adventures of mine now, and I couldn't have been happier while hunkered down inside of my dry tent! I've also been on trips that were cut short due to the flooding of tents. If these guys would have used Nikwax ahead of time they would have been snug as bug… A favorite way of mine to apply the waterproof treatment to my tent, is to set up my tent in my backyard, apply Nikwax, turn my sprinkler on my tent, and jump in (the tent, not the sprinkler)! It's worked great so far, and I'd much rather find out at home if my tent is leaking than on the trail. Nikwax is by far some of the best and most well used pieces of my inventory.
