Cooler weather has set upon us here in Colorado Springs this weekend, and you can tell Fall is just around the corner. It's a beautiful time to get outdoors and play, but it's also a great time of year for seasonal and harvest beers.
One of these delightful drinks I was happy to have around the fire pit last night was the Pecan Harvest Ale from Abita Brewing Co. The Pecan Harvest Ale is classified as an American Brown Ale, but many beer connoisseurs consider it to be a Nut Brown (I also think it's body is a little red for a brown, but I'm just the drinker not the brewer). It has a rich caramel flavor that finishes with a light pecan flavor and aroma. The soft taste lingers against the back of your throat for sometime after every drink. This is a slow drinking beer, that allows you a chance to experience the wonderful craft behind it.
Pecan Harvest Ale is not Abita's Fall seasonal release. It's "Fall Harvest" and it should be hitting the shelves of a liquor store near very you soon. If you're a fan of the Fall beers and the seasonal flavors that come with it, then you'll likely enjoy Abita's Pecan Harvest Ale. If not for anything else consider it a warm up brew to all the fun flavors you'll soon be enjoying.
