Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP)

Paddleboarding has been offered by UpaDowna since 2014, and is something that people of all ages and skill levels can participate in! Stand Up Paddleboarding is a fairly new and yet popular addition to outdoor sports. To help our community realize the potential of it’s benefits, we like to offer opportunities for the public to try the sport and be inspired. We feel this is an important part of learning “SUP”, which can be expensive. A “try before you buy” kind of program allows the participant the unique experience of learning the sport and trying the gear so that they have the proper knowledge to buy the product and gear later. With help from our generous 2014 sponsors; Heuberger Motors, Subaru Adventure Team and Shaboomee SUP, we were able to provide our first fleet of SUP boards, paddles and personal flotation devices (PFD’s) to the public!

Stand Up Paddleboarding Social- FREE Demo Day! @ Prospect Lake, Memorial Park
Jun 19 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Stand Up Paddleboarding Social- FREE Demo Day! @ Prospect Lake, Memorial Park | Colorado Springs | Colorado | United States

Stand Up Paddleboarding is the newest of the 6 free/donation based programs UpaDowna offers. It is designed to encourage folks to try the sport of Stand Up Paddleboarding and provide info about where to rent or buy your own equipment. It is amazing to see the empowerment that kids have after they learn how to paddle on their own! It is also very inspiring for adults to find a new, healthy, and fun sport that they can easily do!

SUP Social Info:
-FREE community paddle party, drop in anytime we are there!
-Find us on the west side of the lake under the black tent!
-Feel free to bring your own equipment (kayaks, canoes, boards) or use our boards for free. Prospect Lake requires a permit if you have your own watercraft. Those can be purchased at Sertich Ice Center or the boathouse near the lake
-We provide EVERYTHING you need: a board, paddle, life jacket, and permit
-All ages/skill levels welcome! We recommend kids 10 and under ride with an adult
-Wear athletic clothing/swimsuits/trunks and sandals or water shoes and bring a towel and a change of clothing
-UpaDowna has boards to share. If you would like to rent one, please check out our SUP Social supporting business Pikes Peak Outfitter or buy one from our sup provider, Shaboomee.
-Due to the popularity of this program, there can be a line for the equipment. It’s suggested to bring other activities to pass the time.

UpaDowna is a registered 501c3 nonprofit. Our mission is to provide access to outdoor adventures for all through events and programs that empower individuals, create healthier communities, and foster a respect for the environment. Learn more at UpaDowna.org
