BREWERY: SIERRA NEVADA
SIZE: 12 oz
After spending the last week on the San Juan River I could think of no better beer to celebrate than this appropriately named River Ryed Rye IPA from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. Touted as a hop-forward beer that will provide a dry and delicious end to a rafting journey, I couldn’t agree more. The malt profile of this IPA is a nice rich complement to the dry citrus hop push up front that allows you to swim in the caramel colored ale as you get hints of summer thorough the crisp notes and almost sweet floral tease this recipe produces. I would love to tell you more about this beer, but I can’t seem to find anything on Sierra Nevada’s website and the inter webs only mentions that it is a rotational offering and usually only found regionally. Fortunately raft buddy and beer lover, Dan R. gave me one of the few he had stashed to use for this review. I’ll have to look locally for it because it is a beer that would be nice to have in the cooler for a wide variety of summer adventures.
