Amen. Sometimes you just need to take a bit of time and relax, slow the ride and enjoy the amazing life we all lead. This week’s BOTW is an amazing session IPA from New Belgium Brewing, and with a mild ABV of 4.5% and definitely not lacking on the flavor side of things this beer is an great offering that will no doubt take the summer by storm.
Lacking the hop bitterness of bigger IPAs this beer pushes forward hints of lemon and lime citrus as well as the earthy qualities often found in stone fruits. One of the best things about this style of beer, and especially NBB’s representation of it is that it is a great way to help those ew to craft beers and especially IPAs to the style. Consider it a gateway beer to the world of craft beers. I mean, how else can you combine 8 hop varieties and such a robust and complex flavor profile and cram it all together with such a light ABV?
Witchcraft is my only answer.
But on a more serious note, taking the Amarillo, Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, Nelson Sauvin, Nugget, Centennial, Cascade hops and making them work well together at such a low ABV is a great thing. What’s more is that New Belgium has made this a great beer in honor of their love of bikes. Featuring a bike couch or couch bike depending on your persuasion as their label how can you not allow this beer to bring you in to the summer?
And here at UpaDowna we are so stoked to have this as the beer of our Pedal Party which starts this Wednesday at 6pm!!!! So join us for a slow ride and a few Slow Rides as we launch our favorite summer cruise, The Pedal Party along with New Belgium and McCabe’s Tavern!!!! And yes, the couch bike will be on hand for the festivities!!!!!!
