Out of all the seasons and all the beers to go with them, the Pumpkin Ale stands pretty tall amongst the rotations. With so many to choose from it’s hard to know them all. For me, the Smashed Pumpkin from Shipyard Brewing Company is by far one of the best pumpkin brews out there. The Shipyard pours to a copper tone with an off white somewhat orange tinted fluffy head. The Smashed Pumpkin is a pie in a bottle with big spice flavors of, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. For a Pumpkin Ale this is one big beer with big taste and a punch to follow backed with a 9.0% ABV! The mouthfeel is crisp with a somewhat sticky sugary characteristic to it. There’s a bit of a boozie feel on the taste but overall, it goes down surprisingly smooth.
I loved the Smashed Pumpkins big taste and bite. Overall it’s just a delicious tasting beer that’s an easy drinker. If you like pumpkin everything, then this would be a beer for you!
