STABILicers SPORT & Kids Lite

MSRP: $39.95

Snow running is new for me. I'm not a big runner anyway but running in the snow and ice? I never thought I would do it. Now, with the help of STABILicers, I LOVE running in the snow! The added traction you get from the Sports give you a sense of safety when conditions are a bit icy. Keep in mind, ice traction is sort of like a 4-wheel drive SUV. Never underestimate the power of ice or put full trust in your ice traction, you could still slip, so always be prepared!

Product features:

  • Full foot slip protection with heel and forefoot cleats maintains traction throughout your natural stride while walking or running.
  • Dual-Density TPE Elastomer construction with replaceable cleats provides long-wearing durability.
  • Lightweight TPE Elastomer holds STABILicers SPORT securely in place.
  • Traction tread outsole and cleats contact walking surface, providing superior grip on ice, snow, rock, and pavement.
  • Replaceable cleats save money and increase product longevity.
  • New Velcro© Powder Strap keeps SPORT securely in place for rigorous activities such as snow trekking and trail hiking.

As far as rigorous activity goes, they performed fairly well in slippery mud and snow. I didn't wear them with the Powder Strap on, but I'm sure it would have helped. There was only one incident where I had to stop and adjust them back to their original placement on my shoes. The only drawback for me was getting them on. The toe cup makes for an interesting time trying to fit it over shoes. Once its in place, it's easy to get the heel part on. I found it a bit easier to put it on with my shoes off first. They also come in many shapes and varieties of traction.

STABILicers are also available in kids sizes. My little one was super stoked to get these on, as it was his first true gear test!

The Kids Lite (MSRP $14.95) were very easy to get on his boots, and off he ran! It was hard to keep him close, he was amazed at how well they worked on the ice.

At one point he stopped, turned around and said: "Mom! These things are sticky!" Assuming he meant that the multi-directional, non-replaceable metal cleats were sticking well to the ice!

A little history about STABILicers and 32north:

In 1991, Anne and David Gould bought the rights to the STABILicers product so that it could be manufactured and sold in the United States. Anne and David ran the company out of their garage for three years before moving to the Dana Warp Mill in Westbrook, Maine. In 2001, looking for a larger space to expand their thriving business, 32north moved to their current facility in Biddeford, Maine.

A great company with a great product for a decent price! Check them out today!

Adventure On!
