‘Tis the season! Ok, it might be a little late for Christmas, but it’s still a good time to get your hands on this awesome seasonal from Rogue Ales.
Santa’s Private Reserve from Rogue Ales is a warm feeling beer great for capping off long cold Winter days. Santa’s Private Reserve pours to a deep copper color with a thin white head, that quickly dissipates. You know what they always say about judging a book by its cover, and this beer is a perfect example of that. With Santa on the bottle and it being a seasonal winter beer, I expected strong spices and powerful tastes of Christmas Ale, none here though. What you will find are strong malty flavors without a heavy or thick bread feel to it. I can’t say there is anything to wahoo or amazing about this beer, but that might be exactly why I like it so much. It’s just an easy drinking subtle Red Ale with a 5.1% ABV, making it a very sessionable drinker. If you’re in the mood for a great winter beer without all the spices that so many seasonal ales are pumped to the max with, then this might be the perfect seasonal brew for you.
