Winter Abbey Ale

Photo:

Merry Christmas!!! It's 7:41 on Christmas Eve 2012, I just got home from the gym and realized it's Monday and there is no BOTW up! Sorry everybody, here goes.

Snow just started falling here in Colorado Springs and for the first time in a long time, we are going to have a White Christmas. There are a lot of great Seasonals and Christmas Ales out right now. One of my all time favorites is the Winter Abbey Ale from Blue Moon. The Abbey pours to a mostly brown body with a bit of a copper tone to it. A thick tan head comes with the pour, but quickly disappears. It has a soft spice taste with a hint of caramel malts that follow. There's a nice clingy lacing left on the glass and sticky mouth feel that hangs around after each drink. The mouth feel might last a bit longer than most people might like, but I don't find too bad. It has a sweet aroma that's screams of winter goodies!

For a Dubbel it's very reasonably priced and with an ABV of 5.6% there is nothing wrong with knocking a few of these back while enjoying some holiday festivities.

I have a flask full of good whiskey and pack ready to hit the trails and enjoy a little Christmas night hike. I want to greet the new snow personally. See you all soon. Cheers to all, and we wish you a Merry Christmas!

Menikmati,

Bunny
