XS Dead Guy Ale

Another great perk of the job is the once a week required beer drinking. It’s a hard life ya know. With all the sub par, average, good and great beer we drink, occasionally we find something really special, and for me this week’s Beer Of The Week choice, is just that! The XS Dead Guy Ale from Rogue Ales. The XS Dead Guy Ale poured to colorful bronze tone with a medium off white head. On the aroma side, smells of toasty and bready malts sneak out of the bottle along with a sweet fruit zest hint at that nose. Those fruity scents are a great segue to the sweet flavors that roll in on the taste. With a 9 ingredient combo consisting of 2-Row Malts, C15, Munich & Rogue Farms Dare™ & Risk™ Malts; Rogue Farms Revolution™ & Independent™ Hops; Pacman Yeast & Free Range Coastal Water there’s a lot of strong flavors pouring through it’s easy to find something for the palate to enjoy. As a beer I liked everything about the XS Dead Guy Ale. As a thirsty beer lover I didn’t care so much for the $17 price tag. With that in mind though, I did try to slow down a little while drinking this one and really savor it. Which is probably a good idea for a beer that drinks this smooth with a 9% ABV.
