Adventure on Tap: Gravel Biking the Baja Divide

Event Details: Adventure on Tap is a part of UpaDowna’s Community Campfire Program. Join us for a casual gathering as our speakers share their stories, passions, and experiences outdoors to inspire you to pursue adventure and new activities!
‘Gather Around the Campfire’ and join UpaDowna with Larry Dewitt and Steve Bremner as they talk about their journey from Cabo San Lucas to San Diego. They spent about six months planning and training for this ride. Steve had to train because he didn’t even have a bike. Larry is a well-known mountain biker from Colorado Springs, who has quite a resume, including multiple Leadman’s, and a top finish in the Continental Divide race. He coaches local high school mountain bike teams and a clientele of riders. With any endeavor this big there are bound to be problems of which they had their share. Learn from their foibles!
Meet Steve who lives in Manitou Springs next to the Barr Trail. Among his 150 lifetime marathons, he ran the Pikes Peak marathon ten times with a PR of 4:31. His road marathon PR is 2:36. He has run a marathon in each of the 50 states, and in 2009 ran all the marathons in Colorado in one year—there were 20 that year. He has also done a few ultras (50K to 100 miles) and climbed mountains ( 98 of the highest 100 peaks in Colorado and 47 of the 50 state high points). He is now 69 and transitioning from competitive races to choosing his adventure—thus bike-packing the Baja Divide on gravel bikes. The next big ride is the trans-Mexico trail from Guanajuato to Antigua, Guatemala next spring.
