2010 – 2011 Ski and Snowboard Passes

Sadly our summer is coming to an end and that means less time for all of our favorite summer sports… I know it is very depressing but snow and ice sports are on their way!!!  I am thinking about getting a ski/snowboarding pass this year and figured I could give you a rundown of what I have learned. Some passes are insanely expensive and others are a little more affordable. Here is a quick peek into a few of the more popular passes and how much they cost.

The most broad pass is The Colorado Ski Country USA Gold Pass. This is the king of passes. It offers unrestricted access to 21 resorts with no blackout dates. It’s a sweet pass but it runs $3,000 and excludes some really popular resorts like Vail, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, Keystone or Silverton. If you don’t have $3,000  there are many more options you can look into.

The Rocky Mountain Super Pass is $409 and offers unlimited skiing and riding at Winter Park / Mary Jane and Copper Mountain. Add another $40 and you can get 6 unrestricted rides to Steamboat.

If you are looking for the Breckenridge area check out The Colorado Pass. It offers unrestricted access to Keystone, Breckenridge and Arapahoe Basin, plus 10 days at Vail and Beaver Creek for $449.

If you’re only thinking about going a hand full of times you could look into the Gem’s Card. This card offers some great deals and it only costs $10 which you will make back in a heartbeat. It offers a bunch of discounts from one free pass to Monarch to $10 off at Echo Mountain. It seems like a great deal but sometimes the valid dates are random. Check it out.

No matter what you are looking for, plan ahead a little bit, and it could save you some cash and always read the fine print of the actual contract because sometimes they will sneak some blackout dates in.
