Ebulum
When I took a large gulp of this beer I couldn't help but think of the great Scottish elders drinking this beer over 1,000 years ago. I know it sounds ridiculous, but Elderberry Black Ales were introduced to Scotland back in the 9th Century. "Ebulum" is the name of the beer, and it has a 6.5% ABV. You can only find it in a box set along with three other beers. The box set is called Historic Ales from Scotland, and is brewed by Williams Bros. Brewing Company. This is what the Williams bros have to say about Ebulum: "A rich black ale with fruit aroma, silky soft texture, soft roasted flavour and gentle finish. Recommended with stewed and baked foods. Drink lightly chilled from a straight glass." Personally, I think you could describe it pretty simply by calling it a rich stout with a small hint of fruit, that goes down smooth like a good stout should. The box set was not cheap ($12-ish) but so far it has been well worth it. Climb On! Ryan
