Ten Speed Drive/Ellsworth EcoFriendly Commitment
This quote says it all:
“We are dedicated to promoting cycling as a form of transportation and to further public awareness of everyday techniques — from transportation to energy consumption – the public can use to lessen their environmental footprints,” said team director, John Freisen.
This is one of those fantastically simple ideas that has been begging to come full circle. Ten Speed Drive/Ellsworth Factory cycling team is out to set the record straight. This newly renamed team (formerly Colavita New Mexico presented by JNF Enterprises) has made a decision to become the standard for all to follow for green/sustainable practices.
By requiring that the racers commute by bike when ever possible, eat locally and sustainably and try everything in their power to minimize their carbon footprint. Ellsworth a U.S. based company has been supporting sustainable practices for years by utilizing solar power as well implementing green friendly practices. Ellsworth Handcrafted Bicycles has committed to finding more durable materials to build their bikes so as to further reduce their adverse impact of the Earth.
While researching this project I came across a few more that Ellsworth has been committed to as well.
- Project Pink- a socially responsible project where money from every pink bike sale is donated to purchase breast and ovarian cancer research and clinical trials.
- Project Rainforest Green- proceeds from every rain forestgreen bike is donated towards rainforest reforestation and deforestation prevention projects.
It is refreshing to see the cycling industry getting behind such important causes.
Breaking down the facts this is what we came up with.
- Made In USA frames.
- Promotion of sustainable practices.
- Socially conscious business practices.
- World class cycling team to promote their causes.
- Dedication to the Earth and its inhabitants.
Pretty sweet deal I think, way to go Team TenSpeed Drive/Ellsworth Factory Cycling Team!!
