Gunnison Glory

gunnison-glory

Here we are on the brink of another Colorado summer which entails plenty of glorious sunny days, insane afternoon thunderstorms and of course an eclectic selection of mountain sporting competitions!!  We have the Leadville 100, Pikes Peak ascent and marathon, countless bi and triathlons, adventure races, the one and only Teva games and just last year we added Gunnison Glory to the list.  Gunnison Glory is a rock climbing competition/festival that lasts for 24 hours. It starts Friday May 28th and runs through Sunday the 30th. You sign up with a team (up to six people) and climb as many routes or bouldering problems as you can in one day and one night. You ask; “Can you climb at night?  Isn’t that dangerous?  Can I just climb for fun?” Yes, yes and yes. You are not required to climb for 24 hours and there are some other things to do such as yoga, live music, and for God’s sake Gunnison is an awesome mountain town with the Black Canyon not far away. GET SOME!!!

Honestly, my first thought was, “I don’t think I can climb for 24 hours” and then I realized that sometimes not knowing if you can do something is reason in itself to do it or at least try. Summer time is just around the bend and if you are interested in signing up check out the links below or get a hold of me. If climbing is not your pint of beer, I won’t judge you, but I do think this year is a better year than ever to do something you might think impossible or a little insane.

Climb On!!
